Unfortunately in the early hours of May 13th, our friends at Western Greyhound were victim to what appears to be an arson attack at their premises in Newquay. 35 vehicles (third of their fleet) were destroyed in the attack. Part of their business continuity plan was to draft in buses from operators and dealers to ensure continuity of their service whilst they look towards finding permanent replacements for the destroyed vehicles. Carmel were happy to help, by lending two Mercedes Plaxton Beavers SF51 PVU and WP52 YZA. Both vehicles are now in regular service in Cornwall every day.

We are currently planning the transport for a large event for Original Sin Events. On the 8th June 2013, 3000 students will descend on Shobrooke Park near Crediton for the annual Original Sin Summer Ball. The events company, formed by two former Exeter Uni students have used Carmel for all their local transport needs since 2009. This will be their largest project to date, which will involve 30 coaches operating shuttles from the University campus to the event location close to Crediton.
Always nice to log in to outlook in the morning and receive emails like this:
Just a note to thank you for the part that you and your drivers played during the rail replacement blockade between Plymouth-Liskeard/St Austell last week.
Overall, I am pleased to inform you that the service went very well, with very few issues. This is down in part to the helpfulness of your drivers. My customer, First Great Western, has also expressed it’s thanks for the good service we provided.
On speaking with my staff working on the job, and from my own observations, Carmel Coaches stood out amongst the other operators for the helpfulness of your drivers.
I’d be grateful if you could pass on my thanks to all of those in your organisation who were involved in delivering the service.
Two new services will commence this year, both the 366 Kenn – Exeter, and the 174 Newton Abbot – Kingskerswell.
The 366 is a 6-day a week service commencing on May 28th 2013, serving Kenn, Shillingford St. George and Clapham into Exeter. It also incorporates the U, M, and 979 school run. The 174 is a new two year contract devised to help with flows of passengers on The Kingskerswell passage whilst the new South Devon link road is constructed. The service will commence in September 2013, running 6 days a week.
Plenty of coaches out on rail replacement work today, assisting with the flooding of the railway line off of the Cowley Bridge section. Lots of drivers hoping for an early finish to start their Christmas. Then two days off and we’ll be back again.
Please phone 01392 214466 for information on what bus services are running in the Twixmas period. Our phone lines still open on Christmas and Boxing day.
