01/07/12 Olympics contracts for Carmel

Posted 1st July 2012 by

We have had 3 vehicles and 8 drivers positioned in London earlier this week, where the coaches are being vinyl-wrapped in an Olympic Livery and drivers trained on the Olympic Route Network. They are then being contracted to provide transport for UPS & BT sponsors, and will take delegates from their hotels to various Olympic Stadia, commencing with the opening ceremony this Friday.

In addition we are also providing daily spectator transport from Plymouth & Exeter to the sailing events in Weymouth. A variety of local private bookings are also being catered for including schools visiting The Olympic Village and the movement of security staff for the games.

It has been hard work in organising, with the initial application being completed over two years ago, before joining an approved operators list. We had a team visit our depot to approve the vehicles and our maintenance facilities before being offered the work.We are pleased to be able to support the Olympics in this way and proud to be an Exeter-based firm chosen to work in London and represent the Country in this once in a lifetime event.

Carmel Coaches opened in Exeter in 2009 and operating out of our Marsh Barton depot provide transport and days out for a wide range of customers including local schools, sports clubs and university groups, as well as undertaking emergency rail replacement and flight delay services.
